About me
My name is Katie and I live in the south part of Hungary, in a mediterranean town called Pécs. I was born into a catholic family as the only child of my parents. They both died recently. My Dad worked in the local mine as a technician and member of the rescue team. My Mum was a teacher in a suburban school for over 40 years. I started my education in the same school, learning hard work, respect and discipline amongst other coalminers’ children. I started to study English language against the rules. That historical era was not really open to Western cultures, but my parents were brave. They had me enrolled into that English class taking the consequences.
In the secondary school nothing mentionable happened, except that I met my best friend, Klara. Since then we have not stopped being there for each other even though our lives are on different paths. We always managed to find common points, such as our enthusiasm for Kung Fu movies and English culture.
My dream was to become a train engineer, but my bad eyesight and my lack of algebraic thinking prevented me from becoming one. I graduated from The Teacher's Training College, specialized for children with special needs. I started to work in my old school. Two years later I got a chance to spend some time in England. I could study the language in its native enviroment. I was very lucky. I spent two years in London at various families. I learned a lot. Not just the language, but about myself.
When I returned home I felt the need for change. I applied for a job in a catholic school in the middle of the town. Meanwhile I joined in a theological course. I was looking for my aim in this world and my real self.
I met a Priest there. We got on well, and I started to work for him, part time. When he got promoted, I could get a full-time job at the Church. Now I work in a Parish Office as his assistant, helping him organizing Christenings, weddings and funerals. I do the administration work, as well. Soon I found out, that I have to be able to arrange flowers for Church ceremonies, so I learnt that, too. Not much later I had to practice cooking and cleaning. Without noticing it, I became a housekeeper. As our clerk got ill, and retired, I started to manage our accounts and bookkeeping. I know a bit of everything, so practically I know nothing. Of course I love my job, but after a while I realised I miss something badly.
Out of the blue, my friend Klara started to watch Kung Fu films and she introduced me some. For my greatest surprise I loved these funny movies, the characters were loveable, the stories enchanting, the Eastern culture and religion breathtaking. I was more and more involved. One face really fascinated me. The late Lam Ching Ying's. I wanted to learn more about him. Soon after searching for informations about him invane, I realised if he had no attention I would take care of it. I decided to make a homepage out of respect and honor. I have never ever done something like this before. It was a real challenge. This whole project started from nothing. I am grateful to all those who helped me making the first steps.
For a while I thought that was my duty in life. To serve God at the Church and give someone the attention, the tribute he deserved and never got during his life. But God had other plans with me.
On one autumn day, in 2006 an American gentleman paid his tribute to Lam Ching Ying on his Memorial Site. I thanked the heartfelt words and invited him to join the Forum. And he did, the very same day. We started to exchange messages first on the Forum, e-mails went back and forth, and later on we started to chat online. Gradually, but surprisingly quickly we became not only the best of friends, but we realised this is much more then that. A great love evolved, based on mutual respect, appreciation and admiration.
I understood what fate and destiny really means. When two people, even though they live an ocean away, speak different languages are supposed to meet, they will. We are kindred. Our souls are bound, we have the same taste, the same values in life, the same thoughts.
We live this between-season, separeted life, but we plan to meet this Summer.

God did have other plans with me. I found my aim in life, my real self! Thank you, my God Almighty and many thanks to Lam Ching Ying.
Rest in peace, Sifu!
